The theatre of vengeance CHAPTER 1

 CHAPTER 1

The last speech weighed heavily on everyone’s soul; they were intimidated. Their hearts pounded as a heavy weight of dread settled over them. A cold shiver ran down their spines, freezing their words before they could form. They swallowed hard, eyes flickering with hesitation and fear. An invisible pressure tightened around their chests, making it hard to breathe. Their hands trembled, betraying the storm of nerves inside. The room seemed to close in, shadows growing longer as doubt crept in. They felt small, swallowed by the overwhelming presence before them. A sudden chill swept through their bodies, leaving them rooted in place.

Some had mental breakdowns—most notably Rem, who had been screaming and crying since her memories started kicking in. Her desperate screams grew louder as she regained every part of her memories with him—realities she never got to experience, another "her" she was willing to kill.

For the first time, Priscilla expressed distress; she was angry and upset.

Felix stared at Subaru with dead eyes. He didn’t blink or flinch, as if time itself had frozen around him. Terrified, weak, and angry, he thought to himself:

“You. You. YOU ARE THE REASON. YOU SHOULD DIE. DIE AND FIX THIS.”

The weird man in a suit looked at him—no eyes, yet somehow watching. He smiled. A terrifying smile. He had no mouth, but somehow, he smiled.

“Oh my, oh my, my favorite fem-boy. You’re broken, aren’t you? Weak, powerless? Do you want Subaru to kill himself to free you?”

“Yeah, he is the reason we’re here, isn’t he? WHY SHOULD WE SYMPATHIZE WITH HIM? HE USED DEATH AS A WEAPON! HE’S DISGUSTING!” Felix said, trying to maintain his smirk, but shaking with fear and intimidation. His eyes were tired, as if he had never slept in his life.

Subaru was shocked by his ‘friends’ words. But now he knew something was off. This domain wasn’t new to him; he had been here before. The miasma—he had felt it before but couldn’t remember where. He realized everyone was going nuts because of the miasma. He looked at Reinhardt.

“Hey YOU, USELESS KNIGHT, MOVE! DO SOMETHING, REINHARDT!” Felt shouted, kicking Reinhardt.

The Sword Saint didn’t move at all. He didn’t flinch. He knew one wrong move would get his princess killed in no time—not only her, but everyone.

Ram looked at Subaru. She was out of her mind but was going to kill him. She needed to save her sister; otherwise, she’d be broken beyond repair. She was willing to bet everything that Subaru would reset before they entered this world and find a solution. I want to say this was the miasma playing with her head, but would she have done the same if she was fully sane?

The concentration of the miasma started becoming more and more dangerous in this place. Subaru yelled,

“YEAH, WE GOT THIS! SO WHAT SHOULD WE DO NOW?”

“Oh, I’m glad you’re interested in my plan!” Rafiel said.

“Yeah, yeah, of course. Just say whatever, but fast.”

“I’m going to explain this in simple terms, like a YouTube tutorial, but before—!” He made a childish sound.

Ram jumped toward Subaru and, before she could hit him,

“I NEED TO GET RID OF SOME INSECTS,” said Rafiel in a very deep intimidating voice as he snapped his fingers.

Before Ram could land a single finger on Subaru, she disappeared… along with everyone else. Only Subaru remained with the weird man.

“HOW DARE YOUUUUUU!” Subaru shouted angrily.

“Hey, chillax buddy. I didn’t kill them. In fact, I didn’t kill them or anything. I’m not that crazy. I’m just going to put them on trial,” Rafiel said with a happy expression.

“A trial? What kind of trial?” Subaru asked, still upset and angry.

“You’ll see, buddy. Not a baaaad trial, but let’s just see what happens. I just hate how they said your ability is disgusting—even though it helped them. They even killed you. Man, this sucks, tbh. So I wanted to show them an alternative reality where things didn’t go as planned :)”

The weird man disappeared, and a movie started to play.

“Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World From Zero!”

“Huh? Isn’t that guy Reinhardt?” Subaru asked.

A beautiful, elegant, and handsome man was walking in the capital city of Lugunica. He was strong, noble, pure of heart. Everyone waved at him as he walked down the road on his day off. He worked as a royal guard—in fact, he was the strongest royal guard there was. He had outstandingly beautiful red hair, bright sky-blue eyes, and clear white skin. He wore a fancy knight’s costume. But why was the world’s strongest swordsman running toward a random slum street? He looked terrified, like he’d seen a ghost. No—the ghost would look terrified if it saw Reinhardt. He saw something more. When he finally arrived at the street, he found a powerless, useless, weak—

Subaru stared at the big screen, stressed and scared. His eyes were about to pop out. Then he said,

“This is not the reality I’ve lived.”

The weak boy was beaten up. He was killed. His eyes were removed, and his guts ripped open. One of his hands was detached from his body. Alongside that, Reinhardt found the dead bodies of three criminals—one small, one big, and one of average height. The terrified Reinhardt tried to hold the dead boy’s body, but when he did, the head fell to the ground, sparking a huge amount of blood. It covered the beautiful white suit of the knight.

“Hey wait, what the fuck is going on here??”

Subaru couldn’t look at his dead body. He threw up, vomiting all around the place.

Then the weird-looking guy appeared again and said,

“Oh, I’m sorry, bro. Forgot to install a toilet, my bad,” Rafiel said with a sad face.

“WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? WHY AM I DEAD IN THAT WORLD? THIS CAN’T—AGHHH!”

“Oh, that? Don’t mind it. I just wanted to show you how useless they are and how they wouldn’t do anything to save you,” Rafiel said.

Subaru rushed toward Rafiel and punched him hard where his family’s future bloodline is.

“OHHHHH DANG IT, NOW I REALLY NEED TO INSTALL THAT TOILET ALONGSIDE A CLINIC,” Rafiel screamed.

Subaru, tired, angry, and powerless, knew his punch would do nothing, but he still went for it.

“I need an answer. What’s going to be the end of all this?”

“Oh, my poor Subaru… If you really had to ask, then here’s your answer:
Either they claw their way through hell to bring you back—win the trial, earn the tribunal’s pardon, and return home with every memory erased…
Or they all fall before the end, and the entire world collapses into nothingness, taking them with it, now please stay here and watch"
